Back in 1944, Danish designer Mogens Lassen began sketching a new lamp design that would not come to life until 82 years later. The sketch was tucked away in an archive at the Danish Art Library in Copenhagen until design manufacturer
Audo Copenhagen finally put the lamp into production in 2022. The lamp exhibits all the classic traits that characterise Danish design: geometrically oriented shapes, soft curves and effortless grace in every detail. Mogens Lassen is considered one of the country's greatest and most influential architects who embraced Danish functionalism - the style of the new era. Lassen's interior designs are a natural extension of his architectural approach, which is reflected in both the form and functionality of his accomplished creations.
The Klampenborg table lamp is characterized by a twisted base that continues imperceptibly into a frame with the same slender structure. The socket sits in the middle of the frame and is overshadowed by the bell-shaped shade, shielding the light source despite the socket and shade being more separated than in conventional lamps. The combination of contrasting elements remains in perfect balance with each other, creating an expression that is bold without being pretentious, a form that arouses curiosity and a function that is innovative yet intuitive. The table lamp is available in three variants: with a black lacquered surface, with a polished steel finish and with brass plating, depending on your preference and the look you want to add to your interior design.
Despite the separate shade and socket, the light source is glare-free. The shade embraces the bulb so the light is reflected on the inside and then shines downwards again in a soft illumination. The lamp switch also has a three-stage dimming function to adjust the brightness.
