That’s the perfect description of the Tokio lamp from PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED. The Danish brand relaunched the lamp, which was originally designed by Shigeaki Asahara in 1980. The Japanese designer celebrated mechanical movement in almost all his designs—and the Tokio lamp is no exception.
Like a classic architect lamp, Tokio can be adjusted upwards, downwards, forwards, and backwards—but not to the side. The little ball on the middle of the base works as a tactile dimmer, and the sphere invites the beholder to reach out and adjust the lamp as they see fit.
