Copenhagen SC6 pendant was designed based on maritime inspiration. Its shape was greatly inspired by the gas lamps that used to light up the harbour in the Danish capital, although it has been modernised. The lacquered metal shade attached to the wire itself is characterised by its curves that are a clear nod to the historical object.
The idea was to create a design that would allow for the use of different materials without compromising a clean shape with a simple finish. Copenhagen SC6 pendant was created with an eye for detail and a focus on surface structures, thus allowing for a unique combination between the classic and the modern.
Space Copenhagen has a great deal of experience with interior design, which is clearly manifested in the attention to detail that characterises the design. The flexibility that is weaved into the design of the lamp and the attention to detail borders on extreme. Even details such as the amount of light the pendulum lamp emits were planned from the very beginning. The shade is widest at the middle and narrows in at the top as well as the bottom, which helps to add density to the overall appearance, all the while protecting the user from blinding light.
