This classic and highly sought-after pendant lamp was designed by architect Poul Henningsen and manufactured by the Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen. A collaboration that continued throughout Henningsen's entire life.
After developing his three-canopy system in the late 1920s, he began to develop this particular system. As electric lighting evolved, its mission to provide glare-free light was put to the test. As a result of these further developments, the Pendler was equipped with a revolutionary five-shade system that made the lamp completely glare-free.
PH 5 lamps in a wide variety of colors
The PH 5 500 model was introduced in 1958 and is perfect as a dining table lamp. This is a spot where you'll often find a pendant light—it's a true classic in many Danish households. The PH 5 300 (formerly the PH 5 Mini) was released in 2017. The model measures 30 cm, whereas the original version has a diameter of 50 cm.
To mark the 60th anniversary of Poul Henningsen's legendary five-shade system, the company launched a new colored version. While the classic lamp is known for its white, blue, and red colors, the new versions are available in shades of pink, blue, and green—among many others.

In 2017, a smaller version of the original pendant lamp was released. While the original version measures 50 cm in diameter, the 300 Edition (formerly the Mini) has a diameter of just 30 cm. This means that, since then, you've also had the opportunity to enjoy the amazing lighting features of these pendant lamps in their smaller version.
The Ph 5 300 pendant lights are ideal for use above a kitchen table—use several in the same shade or mix and match colors to enjoy their thoughtful design and glare-free light. These lamps are also perfect for the hallway or a corridor.
