The origins of the Lampe Gras series date back to 1922, when Bernard-Albin Gras developed the first designs for his lights. Originally conceived for offices and industrial applications, the series impressed with its simple, robust yet ergonomic design. The basic construction was realised without screws or welded joints.

The individual elements – such as the body, fittings and joints – are exceptionally well thought out and lend the light its unmistakable design language. Le Corbusier was an early admirer of this modern design and incorporated Lampe Gras luminaires into his projects.

Today, the models are highly sought-after design classics and collectors’ items worldwide. Bernard-Albin Gras’s visionary design has proved timeless, making the 322 XL a distinctive pendant light for spacious living, dining and working areas.

A special feature of the raw copper version: the lampshade is supplied bare and untreated. The patina visible in the photographs is therefore not yet present on a new lampshade. Natural oxidation only begins after unpacking, through contact with air and moisture.

The appearance changes over time, developing a unique, natural copper look. The first signs of darkening may be visible after around 14 days. How quickly the surface changes depends on factors such as humidity, temperature and the specific environmental conditions. It is therefore not possible to specify an exact timeframe for the patina to develop.
